Welcome to KTG property Solutions, Inc.

You are probably asking: Amombabym I affected by this new regulation?
Residential property owners and managers, general contractors, special trade contractors, including painters, plumbers, carpenters, electricians, and maintenance personnel are affected by the new regulation. The Lead-Based Paint Pre-Renovation Education Rule (Lead PRE) became effective June 1, 1999, and applies to you if, for example, you are a painter, plumber, or a carpenter, and your job requires that you disturb more than six (6) square feet of painted surface. Act now to find out if your pre-1978 home or apartment has lead hazards. And, if you find lead, don't panic.

Remember!!   girlwcurls
Lead paint isn't always dangerous. If it's under layers of newer, non-lead paint, you may not have a problem. Only when lead paint is disturbed - by rubbing, bumping, water damage, or during renovation - does it release tiny particles of lead dust that can harm you.
The solution to a lead hazard problem isn't always expensive. There are ways to "manage" lead hazards. In fact, removing lead, if it's done improperly, can create more problems than you had in the first place.

The older the building, the more likely that it has lead ...
children 90% of pre-1940 buildings have lead.
80% of pre-1960 and,
62% of pre-1978 buildings have lead. If liability is your primary concern, select an evaluation method that follows the 1995 HUD Guidelines, the de facto standard. If you are subsequently involved in litigation, it's likely that your actions -- what you did and how you did it -- will be measured against these guidelines.

Always have lead evaluations performed by certified professionals.

  • About the on Line Class
  • Where are those forms

When do classes start? 7:45 AM
The EPA mandates that we are within 15 minutes of our syllabus at all times during the course. The first 30 minutes are spent taking pictures for the photo ID and filling out the required registration and hands on forms.

What do I need to bring?
All you really need to bring with you is an ‘Open Mind’ – along with a driver’s license or valid photo ID showing your name and age. We provide all materials as needed throughout the course.

How is the class taught?
We’d like to think the class is presented in a dynamic and exciting manner. We offer professionally produced, DVD interactive material, experienced and ‘dynamic’ instructors, highlighted with physical hands-on activities - not offered by most other course providers.

Overall, we feel it’s presented in a fashion for you to best ‘visualize’ and understand your responsibilities for these types of projects you may face in the future.

What if I don’t read English well?
The course is presented in English, and at this time, we do not have bilingual instructors, so ‘at-a-minimum’ you must be able to read English well enough to get a passing grade on the final exam.

How long is the class?
We usually finish the course instruction around 4:15pm. Then we get right to the final exam. The EPA mandates the course be 8 training hours.

Do I really have to take a test?
Yes. It’s a 50 question, multiple choice exam. A test grade of 70% is needed to pass. We will provide additional time, assistance and instruction - if you have special needs, to ensure everyone is given the best opportunity to obtain certification.

What does the class cost?
The RRP course is $250. This price covers the cost for you to attend our class to obtain a certification as an “EPA Certified Renovator.” The certification we provide, looks like a driver’s license and is issued to YOU as an individual (eg Robert Smith), not to an Organization or Company.

How can I pay for this?
Go to the class schedule page an click on the Confirm Your Class Here link beside the class you picked to attend. The next form should ask for your name, phone number, email address, and class number and date. At the bottom of this form, click on ‘SUBMIT’ and you will be taken to a PayPal, where you can provide the information as needed to process payment via a Credit or Debit Card.

I heard the class was only $215?
The $215 class rate was a promotional rate offered to all of the students who signed up on or before March 01, 2010. Although the rate has increase to $250.00, we believe our class is competitively priced and slightly less than what other organizations are offering the course for in the State of Florida.

So the $250 is all I have to pay?
Unfortunately, No. To be in full compliance, the Company you work for (or if you are one of the owners) has to be ‘registered’ with the EPA. This registration will cost ‘an additional’ $300 (for most Companies). Please note, the $300 goes directly to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) which, of course - is part of our Federal Government. As a courtesy, during the course registration, we will provide you with an explanation of the form and how to fill it out. However, we CAN NOT fill it out or send it in for you. This must be submitted by a representative of your organization.

When do I get my Certification?

During the class, you will hear the instructor explain how to fill out the forms and what to watch for when filling them out. It is important to write legible and fill the form out correctly. If the person next to you fills the forms out incorrectly, it will hold up your certificate because we turn the paperwork in as a class, not as individuals.

After the class, your hands on score and test information will be assembled, processed, and sent to the proper authorities. However, there will obviously be an increased volume of certifications as we head towards the April 22, 2010 deadline. We do not have complete control over all aspects of processing the certifications and picture ID’s.

So PLEASE - be patient. It may take two weeks or more to get your ‘Certified Renovator’ card in the mail.

Rest assured, everything will be done by KTG Property Solutions and the EPA to get your Certified Renovator’s ID to you as quickly as possible. By the way, the certification will be sent to the address you provided on the ‘Registration Form’ given to you at the beginning of class. (If it’s not the same address you used when you paid for the course, don’t worry – that will be your opportunity to change it).

Oh behalf of KTG, we would like to sincerely extend our gratitude again for your interest in taking the course with us. We hope …this section of our web site has answered your questions.

Take care to read About the on line course, there is a lot of work required after the online segment is complete.

What is the price for doing the online course?

The price for the convenience of doing the course on your time and not setting for a full day in class is $295.00.

Does this course count for my continuing education for my license?

If you have a license through the DBPR that begins with a letter, not a number, YES this does count as 8 hours CEU.

How does the course work?

First, you submit the information needed to complete the PayPal payment and the enrollment form. Once this is completed, you will receive a User Name and a Password (usually within 24 hours) to get into the class section of the course. During the course, each section of video will play and come to a point where user input is required. You only have a few seconds to hit the next button or the course will lock you out. Once you start the course you can stop any time during the presentation, but you cannot let the video finish and not hit the next button. IF YOU LET THE VIDEO RUN AND DO NOT HIT THE NEXT BUTTON IN TIME, THIS PROGRAM WILL LOCK YOU OUT! At the end of each section of video, there are a few questions that need to be answered correctly to move on and occasionally, there is a personal question that pops up that has to be answered. After the video sessions are complete you will take a 20-question test, if you pass you are ready for the hands on section of the course.  For anyone that does not make it through the testing session with a passing grade, you will get 20 more questions to try to pass once again.

How long do I have to finish the online course?

The online portion of the course can take as long as 6o days. Anyone with a completed course, a passing grade, and a paid subscription will be admitted into the next hands on session that is held in their area. There is a review of the course so everything is fresh in your mind for the 50-question final exam.
